Genevieve Sweeney is a knitwear designer, currently living in Hackney East London. Genevieve graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a degree in Fashion Knitwear. Her graduate collection 'Shadow Of A Doubt' is inspired by Hitchcock films. Genevieve’s muse 'The Hitchcock Villain' is a gentleman who seems at first sophisticated and seductive yet hides wickedness within himself. Hitchcock uses scenes of train tracks as visual signs to illustrate the growing tension and dramatic thrill in the plot, Genevieve developed her concept by evoking the sense of dramatic tension through stitch and pattern, experimenting with colour balance throughout the collection to portray drama and tension in gradients of tones. Her Hitchcock muse is a modern 'gentlemen', “I have incorporated sophisticated silhouettes and tailored styling to portray his sartorial style. Red is highlighted throughout the collection, developing in intensity to illustrate the wickedness of the villain being revealed." Since graduating, Genevieve relocated to New York to work for Rag & Bone as a knitwear assistant. After 8 months she was approached by Hugo Boss and then relocated to Switzerland as a Creative Knitwear Developer. After two years, she returned to London for work and now has a studio in East London where she is starting up her own knitwear label.
